How do Revolut RevPoints work in Ireland?
RevPoints is Revolut’s loyalty programme, allowing eligible customers to collect points through qualifying spending and other supported activities. Points can then be used for available programme rewards and benefits.
For customers in Ireland, the regular earning rate depends on their Revolut account plan and the type of card used. This makes the Irish programme particularly interesting to compare because eligible credit cards can have different earning rates from debit cards.
Our independent guide explains the published Irish earning rates, gives practical calculations in euros, highlights transactions that do not earn points and discusses the available redemption options.
What makes Ireland different?
Revolut publishes separate RevPoints earning rates for debit and credit card spending in Ireland. For example, Metal earns 1 RevPoint per €2 of eligible debit card spending, while the published credit card rate is 1 RevPoint per €1. Credit card access and programme eligibility conditions apply.
RevPoints Ireland: debit card vs credit card earning rates
Revolut Ireland publishes different regular earning rates depending on the subscription plan and whether the customer uses an eligible debit or credit card.
| Revolut plan | Debit card rate | Credit card rate |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1 point per €10 | 1.5 points per €10 |
| Plus | 1 point per €10 | 1.5 points per €10 |
| Premium | 1 point per €4 | 1.5 points per €4 |
| Metal | 1 point per €2 | 1 point per €1 |
| Ultra | 1 point per €1 | 1.5 points per €1 |
Source: Revolut Ireland’s official RevPoints earning information. Rates apply to eligible transactions and qualifying card products. A Revolut credit card is subject to approval and availability. Actual credited points can also depend on the programme’s calculation and rounding rules.
Standard and Plus have identical published regular earning rates for each card category. Premium, Metal and Ultra can earn more points for the same eligible spending, but the differences between debit and credit cards are not identical across all plans.
Important: credit cards are not available to everyone
The credit card rates shown above apply only where an eligible Revolut credit card is available and approved for the customer. Having a Revolut personal account or a particular subscription plan does not automatically mean that you can obtain a credit card.
How many RevPoints can you earn from €2,000 per month?
Assume that you spend €2,000 each month on transactions that fully qualify for regular RevPoints earning. The table compares the mathematical results for debit and eligible credit card spending in Ireland.

| Standard | 200 | 300 |
| Plus | 200 | 300 |
| Premium | 500 | 750 |

Which Revolut plan earns the most RevPoints in Ireland?
Ultra has the highest published regular debit card and credit card earning rates among the five listed Irish personal account plans. However, the best plan for an individual depends on more than the number of points earned.
Standard & Plus
Both plans offer 1 RevPoint per €10 on eligible debit card spending and 1.5 RevPoints per €10 on eligible credit card spending. Their regular rates are identical within each card category.
Premium & Metal
Premium earns 1 point per €4 on debit cards and 1.5 per €4 on credit cards. Metal earns 1 point per €2 on debit cards and 1 point per €1 on credit cards.
Ultra
Ultra provides 1 RevPoint per €1 of eligible debit card spending or 1.5 RevPoints per €1 on an eligible credit card. Subscription fees and other benefits must also be considered.
Higher earning rates can be attractive, but RevPoints do not have a fixed cash value. Compare the subscription fees and other features you would actually use before deciding whether a paid plan is worthwhile.
How can you earn RevPoints in Ireland?
Revolut Ireland describes several ways to collect RevPoints. Some involve earning points through eligible purchases, while others involve exchanging money or using additional programme features.
Eligible card spending
Participating customers can earn regular points on qualifying card purchases. The rate depends on their plan and whether a supported debit or credit card is used.
Stays, Experiences and Shops
Eligible travel bookings and purchases through supported Revolut Shops offers may provide additional opportunities to collect points. Separate terms and promotional earning rates can apply.
Other earning features
Depending on availability, Revolut may offer spare change conversions, points purchases, Revolut Pay rewards or other eligible features. Their terms are different from standard card spending.
Spare change involves buying points
With spare change conversions, part of your own money is used to purchase RevPoints. This should not be confused with points awarded through ordinary eligible spending at your plan’s regular earning rate.
Can you earn additional RevPoints with a Points Pocket?
Revolut Ireland also describes a Points Pocket feature through which eligible customers may collect additional RevPoints by maintaining a qualifying balance.
According to Revolut’s Irish guidance, a Points Pocket is a special type of Pocket within the account rather than a separate bank account or deposit. The qualifying balance thresholds and potential points are shown in the app before activation.
Additional points depend on meeting the applicable balance conditions. If the balance falls below a threshold, the points earned may decrease or stop. The Points Pocket feature has its own conditions and should not be treated as ordinary debit or credit card spending.
For details and current availability, see Revolut Ireland’s official Points Pocket guidance.
Which transactions do not earn RevPoints in Ireland?
Only qualifying transactions can earn regular RevPoints. Revolut Ireland excludes several transaction types and merchant categories, so not all card spending counts towards points.
Examples of excluded transactions include money transfers, wallet top-ups, cryptocurrency purchases, brokerage activity, certain financial or insurance services, and other cash-like transactions.
Tax payments, fines, penalties, gambling or betting transactions, utility payments, certain charitable contributions and payments to selected educational institutions may also be excluded.
Additional merchant categories, such as certain property, rental, parking, maintenance, advertising and specialised business services, can be excluded. Transactions made using a Revolut Pro account are not eligible under the regular personal RevPoints rules described here.
The full and current list of exclusions is available from Revolut Ireland’s official RevPoints earning information.
How can you redeem RevPoints in Ireland?
RevPoints may be exchanged for eligible programme rewards, depending on the available options and current conditions displayed by Revolut.
Airline Miles
Convert points into miles with participating airline loyalty programmes. Check the partner, conversion ratio and transfer conditions in the app before confirming an exchange.
Stays & Experiences
Redeem eligible points for available accommodation or experience discounts through Revolut. The redemption value and conditions depend on the particular booking or offer.
Gift Cards & shopping discounts
Depending on availability, Revolut may offer gift cards, selected Revolut Pay discounts and other rewards for which RevPoints can be redeemed.
Do RevPoints have a fixed euro value?
No. RevPoints are loyalty points rather than money. Their potential benefit varies depending on the reward and applicable redemption terms. They cannot be withdrawn as euros or exchanged directly for cash.
When do RevPoints expire in Ireland?
Revolut Ireland states that RevPoints are valid for three years from their issue date. Programme-specific conditions may apply to certain points or promotional features.
You can review your points balance in the RevPoints section of the Revolut app. It is worth checking your available rewards and any expiry information before planning a transfer or redemption.
