What are the main ways to earn RevPoints?
RevPoints is Revolut’s loyalty programme. Eligible customers can collect points through qualifying activities and redeem them for available rewards. However, earning rates and supported features are not necessarily the same in every country.
One of the main ways to collect RevPoints is to make eligible purchases using a supported Revolut card. Depending on your market, you may also be able to collect additional points through selected travel bookings, Revolut Shops, Revolut Pay or a Points Pocket.
Some features allow you to acquire RevPoints by spending your own money. This distinction matters: purchasing points through Spare Change is not the same as receiving points through ordinary eligible card spending.
Before you start collecting points
Make sure you have joined the RevPoints programme in the Revolut app, check the rules for your country and subscription plan, and understand which transactions qualify. A higher earning rate does not mean every payment will generate points.
Ways to earn or acquire Revolut RevPoints
Revolut describes several methods of collecting points. Their availability, earning conditions and potential costs can vary by country, customer eligibility and promotional offer.
Eligible card spending
Earn regular RevPoints on qualifying card purchases. The published earning rate depends on your Revolut plan and, in some countries, the type of card used.
Revolut Shops
Collect points from participating merchants when you follow the conditions of an eligible Shops offer. Extra earning opportunities may be available for selected online or in-store purchases.
Stays & Experiences
Earn points on qualifying accommodation or experience bookings made through supported Revolut services, subject to the individual booking and promotional terms.
Revolut Pay
Eligible Revolut Pay purchases can provide opportunities to earn points where the feature and relevant merchant offer are supported.
Points Pockets
In supported markets, a qualifying Points Pocket may provide additional RevPoints when its minimum daily balance requirements are met.
Spare Change & point purchases
Use your own money to acquire RevPoints where supported. These points are purchased rather than awarded through ordinary eligible spending.
1. Earn RevPoints with eligible card purchases
For many customers, qualifying everyday card spending is the most straightforward way to collect regular RevPoints. The number of points awarded depends on the relevant market, personal plan and applicable card rules.
Before calculating your potential points, check whether the payment is eligible under your country’s RevPoints terms. Revolut excludes various types of transactions, so the total amount spent from your account is not necessarily the same as the amount that earns points.
Join RevPoints
Open the RevPoints section of the Revolut app, review the programme information and follow the enrolment process where the programme is available to you.
Check your earning rate
Find the rate for your country, Revolut plan and supported card type. Do not assume that earning rates published in another market also apply to your account.
Make qualifying purchases
Use a supported Revolut card for transactions that meet the programme’s requirements. Monitor your points balance and check any relevant exclusions.
Regular rates for Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal and Ultra are not universal. In some markets, eligible credit card spending can also have a different rate from debit card spending.
Important distinction: spending versus eligible spending
If you spend 2,000 units of your local currency each month but only 1,400 qualify under the RevPoints rules, the appropriate input for estimating regular earnings is the eligible amount, not the full 2,000.
How to estimate your RevPoints earnings
Once you know your eligible spending amount and the earning rate that applies to your account, you can estimate your potential points for a given period.
A simplified calculation divides eligible spending by the amount required to earn a point, with adjustments where the published rate uses a different number of points. Actual awards may differ because of transaction-level rounding, exclusions and other programme rules.

2. Earn extra RevPoints with Revolut Shops
Revolut Shops provides additional earning opportunities with participating merchants in supported markets. An eligible offer may provide more points than the regular card spending rate.
In the Revolut app, eligible customers can explore available Shops offers and follow the purchase instructions for a specific merchant. Some offers apply online, while others may be available in participating physical stores.
Offer conditions are important. Depending on the promotion, you may need to activate an offer, start the purchase through the correct route, use a supported payment method or complete the transaction within a specified period.
Do not assume that simply buying from a merchant listed in Revolut Shops automatically qualifies for an additional reward. Check the offer requirements before purchasing.
Check each Shops promotion individually
Extra points, earning multipliers, eligible products and crediting times can differ between offers. Only use the multiplier shown for your specific promotion; promotional rates should not be treated as permanent standard earning rates.
3. Collect RevPoints through Stays and Experiences
Qualifying bookings through Revolut Stays or Experiences may provide opportunities to collect RevPoints beyond ordinary card spending.
These services can include eligible accommodation reservations and selected activities booked through the Revolut app. The applicable offer determines whether RevPoints are earned, the potential earning rate and any booking restrictions.
Before making a booking, compare the total price and terms with other available options. A larger number of points should not be considered a saving unless the overall booking still makes sense for you.
Cancellation, refund or booking modification rules may affect the points associated with a qualifying reservation. Always check the relevant Stays or Experiences terms.
4. Earn points with eligible Revolut Pay purchases
Revolut Pay is another potential way to collect RevPoints in supported markets. Availability and earning conditions depend on the merchant and the offer.
When an eligible Revolut Pay promotion is available, the checkout process may provide information about the points that can be earned. The offer may be separate from your normal card spending rate.
Revolut Pay earning opportunities are not necessarily available with every merchant or in every country. Check the applicable terms before assuming that a checkout qualifies.
5. Can a Points Pocket generate additional RevPoints?
In supported markets, Revolut offers a Points Pocket feature that may award additional RevPoints when a qualifying balance is maintained.
A Points Pocket is a dedicated type of Pocket within a Revolut account. Revolut describes it as a sub-account rather than a separate bank account or deposit.
To qualify, the customer must meet the applicable balance threshold. Revolut indicates the relevant minimum balances and potential points within the app, where the feature is available.
If the balance falls below a threshold, the rate of earning may decrease or earning may stop. A Points Pocket is therefore different from earning RevPoints through everyday purchases.
Do not assume that Points Pockets are available everywhere
Points Pocket functionality, balance thresholds and point awards can depend on country, eligibility and current Revolut conditions. Check the app for the terms that apply to your account.
6. Spare Change and purchased RevPoints: what’s the difference?
Spare Change can be confusing because points may appear after an ordinary card purchase. However, the feature uses the customer’s own money to acquire points.
For example, Revolut explains that a purchase costing £2.46 may have a spare change amount of £0.54. Where the feature is enabled, that amount can be used to purchase RevPoints.
Some markets also allow spare change multipliers or separate points purchases. The money involved belongs to the customer, so purchased points should not be described as free rewards from spending.
Earned RevPoints
Points awarded through qualifying activities, such as eligible card purchases, according to the relevant programme rules.
Purchased RevPoints
Points acquired using your own money, including through eligible Spare Change conversions or direct point purchases where supported.
Promotional RevPoints
Additional points associated with qualifying offers or activities. Their eligibility, award and expiry conditions may differ from ordinary points.
Revolut’s UK guidance states that RevPoints purchased through Spare Change are non-refundable. Always review the relevant terms before activating a conversion feature or increasing its multiplier.
Which transactions do not earn regular RevPoints?
One of the most important aspects of the programme is that not all transactions qualify. Revolut excludes several payment types and merchant categories from regular card spending rewards.
Official Revolut help pages identify exclusions that may include money transfers, wallet top-ups, cryptocurrency purchases, brokerage activity, certain financial and insurance services, and other cash-like transactions.
Additional excluded categories can include taxes, fines, penalties, gambling or betting, utility providers, charities, political or religious organisations, educational institutions and certain specialised business services.
Transactions conducted through Revolut Pro accounts are also excluded under the personal RevPoints earning rules described in the official guidance consulted for this article.
Merchant categories matter
A transaction may be excluded because of how the merchant is classified. The fact that a payment was successfully made using a Revolut card does not necessarily mean it will earn RevPoints. Always consult the applicable country-specific exclusions.
Do RevPoints earning rules vary by country?
Yes. Earning rates, eligible card products and additional RevPoints features can differ between Revolut markets. This is why a single universal earning-rate table would be misleading.
The United Kingdom uses GBP-based regular rates, while countries such as Germany and France publish rates in euros. Ireland and Spain also have published debit and eligible credit card earning-rate distinctions.
Even where two countries have similar regular rates, other aspects of the programme may differ. These can include supported cards, promotional opportunities, redemption options and particular conditions.
Always select the country associated with your Revolut account when using our calculator. The page language alone does not determine which country’s RevPoints rules apply.
How do you check your RevPoints balance?
You can review your points through the RevPoints section of the Revolut app, including the information and balances available to your account.
Open Revolut
Sign in to the Revolut app and locate the RevPoints area using the available navigation for your account.
View your balance
Check the points balance and relevant programme information displayed in the app.
Review the details
Where available, examine points activity, eligible earning information and any applicable expiry conditions.
Revolut’s UK help guidance states that regular eligible card payments are normally reflected promptly, while some Shops rewards may take longer. The applicable offer or transaction conditions may affect when points are credited.
Do earned RevPoints expire?
Revolut’s official information for the markets reviewed describes a general validity period of three years from the date points are issued.
Additional terms can apply to particular types of points or promotions. Check the conditions associated with your points in the Revolut app rather than assuming that all points have identical expiry arrangements.
RevPoints cannot simply be exchanged directly for cash. The benefits available when redeeming them depend on the programme’s supported rewards and the relevant redemption terms.

Can I earn RevPoints with Revolut Standard?
Yes, eligible Standard customers in supported markets can collect RevPoints. The relevant rate and transaction conditions depend on the country and card product.

Do higher Revolut plans earn more points?
Some paid Revolut plans have higher regular earning rates than lower-tier plans. However, the exact rates depend on your market, and a higher rate does not necessarily justify the subscription cost.
