Five-country comparison · Debit and credit cards · Independent of Revolut
How do RevPoints work with Revolut Ultra?
Revolut Ultra is a paid personal account plan offering the highest published regular RevPoints earning rates among Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal and Ultra in the five countries covered by this guide.
Eligible Ultra customers can earn regular RevPoints through qualifying card purchases after joining the programme. The published debit card rate is 1 RevPoint per £1 of eligible spending in the United Kingdom and 1 RevPoint per €1 in Germany, France, Ireland and Spain.
For qualifying Revolut credit cards in Ireland and Spain, Revolut publishes a separate rate of 1.5 RevPoints per €1 of eligible spending. Credit card availability, eligibility and approval conditions apply.
Ultra’s higher earning rates can produce substantially more points than lower subscription tiers. However, earning more RevPoints does not guarantee that the additional benefits outweigh the cost of an Ultra subscription.
Revolut Ultra RevPoints at a glance
Ultra earns twice as many regular RevPoints as Metal and ten times as many as Standard or Plus from the same eligible debit card spending in the five markets reviewed. RevPoints do not have a fixed cash value, and the subscription’s cost and other benefits must be considered separately.
Revolut Ultra RevPoints earning rates by country
The following table compares the published regular Ultra earning rates in our five markets. Debit and eligible credit card rates are shown separately where Revolut provides both.
| Country | Ultra debit card | Ultra credit card |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | 1 RevPoint per £1 | Not separately listed |
| Germany | 1 RevPoint per €1 | Not separately listed |
| France | 1 RevPoint per €1 | Not separately listed |
| Ireland | 1 RevPoint per €1 | 1.5 RevPoints per €1 |
| Spain | 1 RevPoint per €1 | 1.5 RevPoints per €1 |
The published rates apply to eligible transactions. Separate credit card rates are listed only where confirmed by the country-specific information reviewed. A missing credit card rate does not establish the availability or absence of a credit card product. Qualifying credit cards are subject to approval and applicable terms.
For the UK, Germany and France, Revolut’s regular earning information lists a debit card rate for Ultra. Ireland and Spain publish additional credit card rates that should not be applied to ordinary debit card purchases.
Although the regular debit card rates follow the same numerical pattern, the countries have different currencies, card products and programme conditions. The earning rules of the country associated with your Revolut account are the relevant starting point.
Important: 1 RevPoint per £1 or €1 is an earning rate
Ultra’s debit card rate describes how points are collected from eligible spending. It does not mean that one RevPoint is worth £1 or €1. RevPoints are loyalty points with no fixed monetary redemption value.
How many RevPoints can Ultra earn per month?
At the regular Ultra debit card rate of one point per unit of eligible local-currency spending, the simplified number of points matches the numerical spending amount.
| Eligible monthly spending | Monthly RevPoints | Yearly RevPoints |
|---|---|---|
| £500 / €500 | 500 | 6,000 |
| £1,000 / €1,000 | 1,000 | 12,000 |
| £1,500 / €1,500 | 1,500 | 18,000 |
| £2,000 / €2,000 | 2,000 | 24,000 |
| £2,500 / €2,500 | 2,500 | 30,000 |
| £3,000 / €3,000 | 3,000 | 36,000 |
| £5,000 / €5,000 | 5,000 | 60,000 |
Each row represents either eligible GBP spending in the UK or eligible EUR spending in Germany, France, Ireland or Spain. Pounds and euros are not being treated as equivalent currencies. These are mathematical estimates for debit card spending only, assuming twelve identical months and no excluded transactions or rounding differences.
For example, a customer with an Ultra account registered in Germany who spends €2,500 per month on fully eligible debit card purchases would have a simplified estimate of 2,500 RevPoints per month.
A UK Ultra customer making £1,500 of fully eligible debit card purchases would have a simplified estimate of 1,500 RevPoints. The points earned are a loyalty balance, not £1,500 in cash rewards.

Ultra vs Standard, Plus, Premium and Metal RevPoints
Ultra has the highest regular debit card earning rate among the five personal plans reviewed. The following table shows how much that rate changes the number of points earned from identical eligible spending.
| Revolut plan | UK earning rate | Points on £2,000 |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1 point per £10 | 200 |
| Plus | 1 point per £10 | 200 |
| Premium | 1 point per £4 | 500 |
| Metal | 1 point per £2 | 1,000 |
| Ultra | 1 point per £1 | 2,000 |
UK debit card example assuming the full £2,000 is eligible. The published debit card rates for Germany, France, Ireland and Spain follow the same numerical pattern in euros. Credit card rates in Ireland and Spain are different and are not represented in this table.
Under these conditions, Ultra earns ten times the regular RevPoints of Standard or Plus, four times those of Premium and twice those of Metal.
These comparisons describe differences in points earned. They do not establish how much money each plan saves or whether the additional RevPoints justify the cost of upgrading.
Revolut Ultra vs Metal: is the extra earning rate significant?
Metal is the plan immediately below Ultra in the range reviewed. Comparing these two plans makes it easier to understand the additional regular RevPoints available on Ultra.
| Eligible monthly spending | Metal points | Ultra points | Extra Ultra points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | 500 | 1,000 | 500 |
| 1,500 | 750 | 1,500 | 750 |
| 2,000 | 1,000 | 2,000 | 1,000 |
| 2,500 | 1,250 | 2,500 | 1,250 |
| 3,000 | 1,500 | 3,000 | 1,500 |
Spending values represent either GBP in the UK or EUR in the other four reviewed markets. The calculations compare regular eligible debit card spending only, without additional rewards or transaction-level rounding differences.
For 2,000 units of fully eligible monthly debit card spending, Ultra earns an estimated 1,000 additional RevPoints compared with Metal. If spending remains unchanged for twelve months, that difference would total 12,000 extra points.
What does that difference mean financially?
The additional 12,000 RevPoints have no guaranteed cash value. Their practical benefit depends on the rewards available, how many points each reward requires and any associated costs.
To decide whether upgrading from Metal to Ultra is worthwhile, compare the difference in subscription fees with both the additional points and other Ultra features you would actually use.
Twice the points does not mean twice the monetary benefit
Ultra earns twice as many regular debit card RevPoints as Metal at the reviewed rates. The eventual value of those points depends on the specific redemption. Do not assume a fixed monetary conversion rate.
Ultra debit vs credit card RevPoints in Ireland and Spain
Revolut Ireland and Revolut Spain publish a higher regular earning rate for eligible Ultra credit card purchases than for eligible Ultra debit card purchases.
For eligible debit card spending, Ultra earns 1 RevPoint per €1. For qualifying credit card spending in these two countries, the published rate is 1.5 RevPoints per €1.
| Eligible monthly spending | Debit card points | Eligible credit card points |
|---|---|---|
| €500 | 500 | 750 |
| €1,000 | 1,000 | 1,500 |
| €1,500 | 1,500 | 2,250 |
| €2,000 | 2,000 | 3,000 |
| €2,500 | 2,500 | 3,750 |
| €3,000 | 3,000 | 4,500 |
These figures are simplified mathematical calculations using the published Ultra rates in Ireland and Spain. The full spending amount is assumed to qualify. Credit card use requires a qualifying Revolut credit card and applicable approval. Actual awards can differ because of excluded transactions and rounding.
For a customer with €2,000 in fully eligible monthly spending, the theoretical difference is 1,000 additional points on an eligible Ultra credit card compared with an eligible Ultra debit card.
However, a higher earning rate is not a reason to borrow money unnecessarily. Credit card interest, fees, repayment obligations and other conditions can outweigh the benefits of any loyalty programme.
An Ultra subscription does not guarantee a credit card
Credit card products are subject to separate availability, eligibility and approval requirements. The higher published credit card rate applies only where the card and transaction meet Revolut’s conditions.
Revolut Premium vs Ultra: how much do RevPoints increase?
Ultra also has a substantially higher regular debit card earning rate than Premium. Premium earns 1 point per four units of eligible spending, while Ultra earns 1 point per one unit.
For €2,000 of fully eligible debit card spending in Germany, Premium would earn an estimated 500 RevPoints and Ultra would earn 2,000. That is a difference of 1,500 points in a month.
Over twelve identical months, the simplified difference would be 18,000 points. Those additional points may be attractive to customers who spend heavily on qualifying purchases, but their value depends on redemption options and the cost of the subscription.
Premium and Ultra also offer different non-RevPoints features and subscription costs. Comparing them fairly means considering the services you would actually use, not just the points difference.
Is Revolut Ultra worth it for RevPoints?
Ultra offers the highest regular earning rate among the five reviewed personal plans. Whether that makes the subscription worthwhile is a separate question, particularly because RevPoints have no guaranteed cash value.
Estimate your eligible spending
Use the purchases you expect to qualify for regular RevPoints. Exclude payments that Revolut identifies as ineligible.
Compare Ultra with your current plan
Calculate the extra points at identical spending levels using the published country and card rates that apply to you.
Check the current Ultra subscription cost
Review the official local price and subscription conditions. Prices can vary by market, billing cycle and applicable terms.
Evaluate rewards you would actually redeem
Estimate the realistic benefit of selected airline miles transfers, booking discounts, gift cards or other rewards available in your account.
Include useful non-RevPoints features
Ultra includes other account benefits that may matter to some customers. Only count features that are genuinely relevant to your needs.
There is no universal Ultra break-even spending amount
Without the actual price of Ultra for your market and a realistic value for rewards you would redeem, it is not possible to specify one spending threshold at which Ultra becomes worthwhile. The extra points can be estimated, but their financial benefit cannot be guaranteed.
Which purchases earn Revolut Ultra RevPoints?
Ultra’s higher regular earning rate applies only to qualifying transactions. Revolut excludes specific payment types and merchant categories from the personal RevPoints programme.
Ordinary consumer purchases may qualify when made with a supported Revolut card, but the transaction must meet the current programme conditions for your market.
Official Revolut exclusions include financial transfers, wallet top-ups, cash-like transactions, cryptocurrency purchases, brokerage activity, certain insurance and financial services, and various other money movements.
Taxes, fines, gambling, betting, utility payments, selected government payments, charities, educational institutions and particular business services can also be excluded.
Merchant classification can affect eligibility. Revolut Pro account transactions are also excluded from the regular personal RevPoints rules described in the official information used for this guide.
Example: eligible spending versus total outgoings
Suppose a UK Ultra customer has £3,000 in monthly outgoings, but £800 belongs to excluded categories. The remaining £2,200 in fully eligible debit card purchases would produce a simplified estimate of 2,200 RevPoints, not 3,000.
For a detailed explanation of excluded transactions, see our Eligible RevPoints Spending Guide.
Can Ultra customers earn additional RevPoints?
Regular eligible card spending is one earning method. Revolut also describes additional ways to collect or acquire points, depending on the market and available offers.
Revolut Shops
Qualifying purchases through participating merchant offers may generate additional RevPoints. The particular promotion and transaction conditions apply.
Stays & Experiences
Selected accommodation or experience bookings can offer additional points under the relevant booking and promotional terms.
Revolut Pay
Supported merchant offers may provide RevPoints for qualifying Revolut Pay purchases. Availability and conditions vary.
Points Pockets
Where offered, an eligible Points Pocket may generate points when the required minimum balance conditions are met.
Does Spare Change generate free RevPoints?
No. Spare Change is a feature that uses the customer’s own money to purchase RevPoints, where supported. These points are different from points awarded for eligible purchases at the regular Ultra rate.
Before enabling points purchases, review the purchase cost, relevant terms and actual redemption options. Acquiring a larger number of loyalty points does not automatically create a financial saving.
Our How to Earn RevPoints Guide explains regular earning methods and points purchases in greater detail.
How can you use RevPoints earned with Ultra?
Eligible RevPoints can be redeemed for available programme rewards. The options depend on your country, account eligibility, partner availability and current Revolut conditions.
Airline miles
Transfer points to participating airline loyalty programmes where supported. Check the transfer ratio, flight availability and any separate cash charges before confirming.
Stays & Experiences
Use eligible points for selected travel or activity booking discounts. Compare total booking prices and relevant restrictions.
Gift cards & shopping discounts
Where supported, selected gift cards and Revolut Pay discounts may offer alternative redemption opportunities.
Revolut confirms that RevPoints do not have a fixed monetary value and cannot be exchanged directly for cash or currency. More points do not necessarily translate into a proportional increase in monetary benefit.

Do Revolut Ultra RevPoints expire?
Revolut’s official guidance for the reviewed countries states that RevPoints are generally valid for three years from their issue date.
Points credited at different times can expire on different dates. Earning new points should not be assumed to extend the validity of points you already hold.
You can view your points balance and relevant expiry details through the RevPoints section of the Revolut app.
